This is a great race - probably the only downside is training late into November in Indiana. Wendy and I both had very good days. She kicked my butt in the water which was to be expected we are very close on shorter distances and I did not swim enough. Had to give up something somewhere. I thought it was a good swim a little cool at 63 degrees. She also had a very good bike probably only about 1 mph slower than her fastest 1/2 bike time. I was also very please to be in at 19 mph average. The course is pretty friendly with only a shallow climb the last 4 miles of each of the 3 loops but you get to come down that hill as well. I passed her somewhere on the bike and stayed ahead until the last 8 miles on the run. Once she caught me I had to put it in a different gear for the last 8 miles. She tallied a 4:04 and I managed a 4:17. The run course is a little tougher than most reports - there are two decent uphills that you hit 3 times each but since it is 3 loops you are always close to people cheering. At 11:45 super 1st race for Wendy and a solid 3 hour and 29 minute improvement over my 06 Great Floridian. I would recommend this race to anyone and the plan is to return in 2010 to watch Josh and Catherine club members that moved and sign up for the 2011 race.
